Along with our friends at Magtech, we're committed to growing the shooting community. Whether it's die-hard hunters who can't wait for the first sign of fall or tactical shooters who live for weekend range time - we believe the more people who appreciate firearms and know the joy of shooting - the better it is all for all of us.

That's why we recently teamed up and gave away 100,000 rounds of 9mm ammo for free - that's 2,000 boxes worth of full metal jacket rounds to folks willing to take a new shooter to the range. These shooting mentors who donated their time and expertise played a huge role in ensuring the right to bear arms is something that won't be taken for granted by future generations. We called the mentors "Ammo Ambassadors".

Free ammo

1,000 new shooters were introduced to firearms as part of the Ammo Ambassador program. That's 1,000 informed voters going to the polls and hopefully, 1,000 safe and responsible gun owners standing next to you at your local range.

We've heard some amazing stories along the way from mentors who might have gotten as much out of their range trip as the newbie they took along.

"I took my girlfriend Lizzie to Sharpshooters in Lorton, VA for her first trip to the range! She was a bit apprehensive but once she found her groove, it was like she had been shooting for years! She liked shooting my Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm, and we rented a Ruger .22lr handgun for her to try, for comparison. Her dad came with us and brought his .22 rifle to plink at stuff and a .300 Savage lever-action that I thought was a BLAST to shoot! All in all, it was a great time! I'm glad I got to give her this experience", Justin an Ammo Ambassador said

In all, we had Ammo Ambassadors from XX states who took part in the program, truly making this a coast-to-coast new shooter initiative and one that we're proud to have played a small part in.

Various 9mm Names

  • 9mm Luger
  • 9x19
  • 9mm Parabellum
  • Just, "9mm"

All of the above are the same cartridge. So, 9x19 and 9mm are the same ammo cartridge, as are 9mm and 9mm Luger.

However, 9mm Makarov (9x18) is a different caliber and not one you'll find on this page. Don't use the two interchangeably.

Common 9mm Ammo Picks

There are a few different ways to break down the different 9x19 ammo choices we have today. You can look at self-defense vs. training, which is essentially jacketed hollow point (expanding) ammo vs. full metal jacket (ball) ammunition. You can also look at some of the steel-cased options like Tula and Wolf compared to brass cased ammo like Federal, Winchester and Fiocchi.

Generally speaking, steel-cased ammo is cheaper but is not reloadable. Also, many shooters prefer to shoot brass because they believe it is easier on their pistol barrels. Of course, every experienced shooter generally reaches their own conclusion about what ammo is best for their needs and with practice, you will too!

    I think the ammo is awesome. I had originally bought it after reading an article about it unique design, and thought it was a bit of a novelty item. However, after looking at its tested ballistic performance I think I will always have some around. It performs as expected, but I have only fired a few rounds at the range. I hope I don't ever have to use it for real, but if the situation demands it, I feel it would be extremely effective.

    I use cci blazer in all the GSSF matches I have never had a single round fail to fire! I am sure I shot over 5000 rds.very accurate I have won 6first place plaques and 2 Glock pistols.a 43x and a 17L.CCI BLAZER Is all I will ever use.highly recommend

    Love the fact that this ammo burns for the first 18 inches. Does not work well for night shooting due to flash blindness from flash.
