30-378 WEATHERBY
The 30-378 Weatherby Magnum was developed for the United States Army’s Redstone Arsenal during the late 1950s, although the general public wouldn’t lay their hands on it until 1996. It is essentially a 378 Wby Mag case necked down to seat a .30 cal bullet. At 180 grains, that bullet achieves ~3,425 fps muzzle velocity out of a 26” barrel. A staple of competitive benchrest shooting, which has set multiple 1,000-yard records.
