The 7.7x58mm Arisaka (aka 7.7 Jap) was one of the Imperial Japanese Army's standard rifle cartridges during WWII. If you own a Type 99 rifle (九九式短小銃) that wasn’t converted to fire 7.92×57mm Mauser or 30-06 Springfield ammunition – and you want it to do more than gather dust – then you are necessarily in the market for 7.7 Jap ammo. A capable large game hunting round so long as it is loaded with a jacketed soft point (JSP) bullet!
