10 Gauge
The 10 Gauge is the largest shotgun shell that is still commonly in use. Today, it is almost exclusively used for hunting large waterfowl at long range. At 0.775” in diameter and 3.5” in length, a 10 Gauge shell can hold up to 3 oz. of lead shot (or up to 2-1/4 oz. of steel shot). The 10 Gauge shotgun’s heavier weight would be a hindrance for most applications, but it’s not a great setback when you’re spending most of your hunt sitting in a blind.
