35 WHELEN
The 35 Whelen (aka 9x63mm) is a potent medium-bore rifle round that doesn’t need a magnum action or bolt face to deliver more kinetic energy to its target than the 30-06 Springfield, its parent cartridge. The 35 Whelen’s .358 cal bullet may weigh as little as 110 grains or as much as 300 grains; its 250 grain projectile achieves a muzzle velocity of ~2,500 fps. Fairly unpopular nowadays, but still available from companies like Barnes, Remignton and Hornady.
