Speer 124 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) Ammo Details

This 9mm Luger ammunition is made by Speer is a part of their Gold Dot jacketed hollow point line. Speer Gold Dot ammo has earned a reputation for being highly effective as a self defense round. Speer has great quality control, and a result of this is a round that has excellent accuracy and consistency.

The JHP bullet that is loaded into this ammo has superior expansion, even after passing through barriers like heavy clothing. This ammo is loaded to +P pressures and produces muzzle velocities of about 1,220 feet per second. This is excellent ammunition, and it is trusted by Law Enforcement and civilians alike for protection. It is Boxer primed, brass cased, and reloadable.

In hopes of giving ourselves and our customers a better idea how this 9mm Luger (9x19) self-defense ammo would perform if called upon in a self-defense scenario, we tested dozens of the best selling hollow points on the market.

We fired five rounds of this Speer 9mm Luger (9x19) ammo through a cloth barrier into Clear Ballistics calibrated synthetic gelatin and recorded the results. For these tests, we used a S&W M&P Shield with a 3.1-inch barrel.
