500rds – 223 Rem Black Hills 60gr. V-MAX Ammo Details
We always love seeing a cartridge that represents a team up between two of the ammo industry’s biggest players. This 223 Rem round is made by Black Hills Ammunition, the South Dakotan manufacturer which supplies all of the match 5.56 NATO ammo used by our military’s Service Rifle Teams. They provide ammo for testing to big time firearm manufacturers as well, including Colt, Beretta, and Smith & Wesson. Take a look at these rounds and you’ll see the quality that won Black Hills such business -- perfectly concentric and uniform casings, identical amounts of propellant to one another, and primers disposed to ignite with only the slightest brush of a firing pin.Hornady has taken care of the all-important bullet aspect of things. This round sports a 60 grain V-MAX projectile, which has a swaged lead core with a perfectly formed cavity running down its middle. Over the cavity sits a streamlined polymer tip -- upon impact, that tip jams downward through the core’s cavity, resulting in devastating fragmentation of core and jacket alike that you’ll find more than adequate for turning varmints inside out. The V-MAX’s aerodynamic profile makes it ideal for tagging such small targets from a distance, so your AR-15 will have everything it needs to be a real critter buster.
