Speer 200 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) Ammo Details

Speer LE Gold Dot 200 Grain +P HP 45 ACP Ammo – 50 Rounds

Speer Gold Dot ammunition is the preferred duty round for law enforcement personnel across the country. Headquartered in Idaho, Speer Gold Dot offers superior terminal performance, accuracy, and reliability, shot after shot.

Gold Dot bullets are composed of an alloy lead core with a hollow point shaped along "memory lines." These memory lines help initiate expansion upon target impact. The projectile jacket is molecularly bonded using Speer's patented Uni-Cor electrochemical process. This process bonds the jacket to the core one molecule at a time. This virtually eliminates core/jacket separation and provides uniform jacket thickness in every round.

Delivering excellent performance on all FBI barrier tests that evaluate penetration, expansion and retained weight. These loads deliver excellent terminal performance and will not fragment or prematurely expand when encountering bone, heavy clothing or other real world barriers.

Each .45 ACP round in this box of 50 is loaded with a 200 grain bonded jacketed hollow point projectile. Featuring nickel-plated brass casings, these cartridges deliver smooth feeding and function for semi-automatic sidearms. We also carry this Gold Dot load in a 1000-round bulk pack that you can find for sale here.

Leaving the muzzle at a velocity of 1080 feet per second with 518 foot pounds of energy, these +P overpressure loads are ideal for law enforcement, personal defense, or concealed carry.

Ballistic Gel Testing

We tested this Speer 45 ACP (Auto) ammo by firing five rounds with a Ruger SR45 with a 4.5-inch barrel into calibrated Clear Ballistics gelatin. Of those five rounds, we discovered the ammo penetrated an average of 13.1-inches into the gelatin. Our test rounds ended the test with an average expanded diameter of 0.728-inches, retaining 100% of the projectile's original weight.

On this page, you'll see video of our tests including photographs that detail the ammunition before/after firing it through a four-layer barrier into gelatin. Also, you'll see how this Speer 45 ACP (Auto) ammunition stacks up compared to other self-defense rounds in 45 ACP (Auto).
