The 7.62x39mm (aka 7.62 Soviet) is most commonly associated with the AK-47 – the most popular rifle on Earth – but it’s no less indispensable if you want to fire an SKS rifle. The 7.62x39 is usually loaded with bullets weighing around 123 grains. If your gun range prohibits “magnetic ammo,” then you should take care to avoid purchasing steel-cased rounds. Also, take care also not to confuse 7.62x39 with 7.62x51. Two totally different rounds!
