Barnes Bullets 168 Grain TTSX Ammo Details

This 308 Win cartridge from Barnes’ VOR-TX line of ammunition features a 168 grain TTSX BT projectile. The bullet is inherently accurate thanks to its ballistically efficient boat tail design which gives it superior resistance to wind drift, a flattened trajectory, and greater momentum downrange. This bullet also owes its accuracy to the pressure relieving grooves cut into its shank, as well as its aerodynamic polymer tip.

Upon impact this round’s tip jams inward through the bullet’s specially engineered nose cavity, initiating rapid expansion which produces four sharp cutting petals that destroy whatever tissues fall within their path. Because this bullet is made of copper, it delivers no less than 99 percent weight retention during penetration, letting it create a whopping wound channel. The bullet’s monolithic composition further suits it for hunting where traditional ammo is banned (see: California), and results in substantially less bore fouling as well.

When I googled the best bullet this came up. I was going after hogs and heard they are tough and the first time hunting them I did not use these and it took 3 rounds to put her down. I was not going for a head shot. So for the next hunt I wanted a better bullet to do the job. I was using my 300 win mag and with one good shot he ran about 50 yards and dropped. It was right at dark so I really did not see where he went. I just followed a little blood trail and then shined the light around and there he was. Thank you Barnes Bullets.
