Details About 6.5 Creedmoor Ammo
6.5 Creedmoor ammo was the first cartridge to ever be built from the ground up to be a match grade cartridge, designed for long range shooting and even hunting. Engineers designed the 6.5 Creedmoor for rifleman and the round delivers with brilliant ballistic coefficients. 6.5 CDMR is capable of mimicking the trajectory of rounds like the 300 Winchester Magnum, without the hard hitting recoil. These rounds can still hold their own in terms of power and weight, but is still comfortable to fire for long sessions. This is important for competition shooters, who can put hundreds of rounds down range in a single day.
The 6.5 Creedmoor is a relatively new round. Hornady introduced the round in 2007 for competition shooting, but has also crossed over into hunting cartridges. The 6.5 Creedmoor can be fired in nearly any .308 Winchester rifle by simply swapping the barrels out. In fact, the 6.5 Creedmoor allows for easy use in AR 10 rifles with the correct upper receiver.
