"Custom Lite" slug loads were designed by Hornady to offer shooters excellent terminal ballistics and up to 40% reduction in felt recoil when compared to standard rounds. These 20 gauge shotshells are equipped with the Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) slug which rides in a sabot for unparalleled accuracy out of rifled barrels. The copper-jacketed FTX slug design features a skived hollow cavity which is topped with a pointed polymer tip; this material configuration results in a shotgun slug that maintains excellent flight characteristics and exhibits great performance for self defense and hunting applications due to massive expansion and appropriate weight retention.

Hornady's 250 grain FTX slug is slightly lighter than the standard 20 gauge weight but matches proven data among shotgunning and muzzle-loading communities. When combined with Hornady's own powder blend and accurizing sabot, hunters can expect these slugs to deliver effective hits out to 150 yards. These sabot slugs are intended to be fired through rifled barrels.
