Not just anyone can participate in action shooting sports. They need a 9mm pistol and good ammo. Then they can participate!

Federal Premium loads nonpareil 9mm competition ammo, which they call “Gold Medal Action Pistol.” This is it: 147 grain loads, with low 900 fps muzzle velocity that reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise, and produces a rule-abiding power factor of 132.3.

Those are total metal jacket flat nose (TMJ FN) bullets! Just as effective for defense as FMJ FN bullets (i.e. not as good as JHPs), but even better for target shooting. Unlike an FMJ, a TMJ’s lead core’s base is completely coated in copper. The lead-boiling heat of ignition therefore doesn’t burn any lead off of the TMJ, which translates to a cleaner pistol, indoor range, and pair o’ lungs. (Note: TMJ bullets are inadvisable for ported barrels/muzzle devices.) Its FN profile makes the TMJ optimal for shooting steel, as it engages flat, hard surfaces more evenly.
