Ammo corrosion can happen to the best of us. We know that for a fact, because it even happens to AmmoToGo.com! We took in a shipment of 40 S&W ammo the other day, and only found out that it’s showing some signs of age before it was too late to send it back. See the photos above -- we found evidence of very minor corrosion mostly located near the primers.This is a Ranger T-Series round, with a 165 grain jacketed hollow point projectile. Formerly branded the “Black Talon,” the bullet is engineered to erect six sharp and exceedingly nasty cutting petals as it encounters resistance from soft tissue. It only differs from the Black Talon by not offering the dark Lubalox coating, an omission that doesn’t impact terminal performance.
This law enforcement round’s brass shell casing is plated with nickel. That should theoretically protect it from even further corrosion. It also lessens the friction generated during feeding and extraction, so you can expect this ammo to run smoothly through any semi-auto.
