Like an FMJ, the HP isn’t really built to deliver terminal expansion as it sinks through its target. It’ll knock any varmint’s socks off – and we mean way, way off – but it won’t give you the terminal performance you’d want for taking larger game.
Where the HP really excels is in the accuracy department. The little bullet’s copper-alloy shell was created first and then filled with lead. That means it has a fully jacketed base which will not deform while it is cooked by propellant heat, as well as a core that doesn’t possess little bubbles or other deviations in its weight distribution.
Once this round’s bullet hits a 3,240 fps muzzle velocity out of a 24” barrel, it’s not going to rise higher than 0.5” above the bore line before colliding with a 100-yard target. The old Nebraskan company’s bullets have cannelures to keep them firmly seated in their brass cases – virgin reloadable brass cases, to be precise!
