Hornady is an ammo manufacturer that needs no introduction. Since their establishment by the great Joyce Hornady in 1949, they have developed a sterling reputation both for their component bullets and their factory-loaded ammunition. Guess that kind of counts as an introduction, which Hornady most certainly doesn’t need – but deserves all the same!This is Hornady’s go-to 22-250 Rem ammo for all things medium game hunting. It’s loaded with a 55 grain soft point, which has a ballistically efficient spire point profile that helps to flatten trajectory and conserve more striking energy downrange. Zero in at 200 yards through 1.5” high sights, and you’ll be looking at roughly -5.2” drop at 300 (that’s assuming your barrel is 24” long, which is the test barrel length Hornady used to capture this round’s posted 3,680 fps muzzle velocity).
Once the SP reaches its mark, its copper-alloy jacket will prevent excessive fragmentation to secure a deep wound channel. At the same time, its exposed lead tip will release the terminal expansion that shocks whitetail into submission. This ammo’s brass cases perform admirably in the chamber and at the reloading press!
