Its notched copper jacket and supple lead core enable the JHP to undergo terminal expansion upon entering a soft medium. The Versatile JHP also lacks bonded jacket, thus making it more economical and practical for high-volume target practice.

Its brass cases, primers and propellant are all heavily standardized, carefully inspected, and loaded in strict accordance with SAAMI specs.
