The classic JHP design is simple, and it works well. But SIG Sauer’s V-Crown JHP? Its design is slightly more complicated – and it works simply awesome. Load this 9mm ammo in your carry weapon and you’ll have one less thing to worry about!

This round’s 115 grain V-Crown takes its name from the V-shaped skives that score the inside of its jacket. These create preset fault lines along which reliable terminal expansion can take place. The V-Crown’s hollow point cavity is internally segmented as well, and extends deep down into the core of the bullet to make terminal expansion faster, wider, and even more debilitating. (“Debilitating” is a modest way of putting it.)

The V-Crown complements its wide expansion with deep penetration. Its toothed cannelure not only prevents setback, but actually projects into the core itself. This mechanically anchors the core and jacket together to ensure better weight retention, even through barriers like heavy fabric and walls.

SIG’s nickel plated brass case reduces abrasive forces in a semi-automatic to keep it feeding and extracting on cue. SIG also loaded this round with low flash propellant. It helps cut down on the kind of muzzle flash that would have left you blinded after firing your first shot when it’s dark out, preserving your ability to line up your subsequent follow-up shots.
