Speer Gold Dot 223 Rem is just about the handiest thing you could have if you were ever forced to fire in defense of it all!The Gold Dot soft point is made in a very specific fashion: i.e. submerge a lead core in an electrified chemical bath so it becomes copper-jacketed one molecule at a time. This process yields a bullet that is two very important things: balanced, and therefore capable of high accuracy (3,000 fps MV 24” test bbl; 0.250 G1 BC); and tough, which is why it’s able to stay mostly intact after having pierced barriers as durable as heavy clothing, plywood, and even wallboard. It is quite possible the Gold Dot will more than double in diameter before coming to a rest within the threat.
