Hornady Ammunition 55 Grain Hollow Point Ammo Details

Hornady Frontier ammunition represents a partnership of sorts. On the bullet side of things you’ve got Hornady themself, one of America’s top tier bullet manufacturers. And on the loading side of things you’ve got the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which produces approximately 1.5 billion rounds of ammo annually – mostly for Uncle Sam.

This 223 Rem cartridge’s 55 grain bullet is a hollow point, and although it can be trusted for varmint hunting and self-defense it is optimized to deliver accuracy, not terminal expansion. Its lead core is swaged for improved uniformity and balance. Its Advanced Manufacturing Process is nearly perfectly concentric, which contributes even more to the bullet’s heightened in-flight stability.

When fired from a 24” barrel Hornady’s HP Match bullet attains a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.254; that’s high enough to keep it flying nearly 1,600 fps at 500 yards. Long-distance shooters, put these rounds’ match bullets to the test!

This ammo has Lake City’s characteristic brass cases, which aren’t polished up after they’ve been annealed for greater strength. This new production ammo’s nonmagnetic bullets and non-corrosive primers offer the option to shoot at indoor ranges and then spare you the trouble of rust if you don’t brush out the bore right away.

Good for consistent 1 1/4" @ 100 yds through irons with old HBAR Match 1:9, 2" with red dotted 10 1/2" bare tube AR pistol. Better accuracy than FMJ's at competitive price. Reasonably clean. Not bad on woodchucks either.
