It’s Sellier & Bellot 9mm 124 grain soft point ammunition!That’s correct, muchacho. This round’s bullet is a soft point: a more economical design than the jacketed hollow point, albeit one which still unleashes the terminal expansion that (A) maximizes trauma to the threat, and (B) lessens the risk of over-penetration. The SP’s jacket is made of copper – not steel – which suits it for training at any and all commercial indoor gun ranges.
Sellier & Bellot recorded this round’s 1,165 fps muzzle velocity with a 6” barrel. That’s a little longer than normal, which means you very well may get a subsonic muzzle velocity (and quieter report) out of a pistol with a more conventional 4” barrel.
Sellier & Bellot will have celebrated their 200th anniversary in 2025. The Czech company may have outlived the country they were founded in, but that hasn’t stopped them from loading quality nonmagnetic projectiles, reloadable virgin brass cases, and Boxer primers that cannot cause corrosion.
