Federal Ammunition 158 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point(LSWCHP) Ammo Details

Federal’s Law Enforcement line of ammunition stands up to the trials and tribulations that a busy cop must face on a daily basis. It will do you right when you face your own trials and tribulations as well. With its 158 grain lead semi-wadcutter hollow point projectile, this 38 Special +P round is a fine choice for target practice -- and with the skills you foster with it, you’ll be better prepared to stand your ground as well. The bullet’s broad meplat will punch a satisfying hole through any paper target, giving you more evident feedback on your performance. Chamber this load in your snub nosed pistol or other EDC weapon, however, and you can bank on punching a wide hole through a threat as well -- followed up by massive cavitation courtesy of the soft lead bullet’s nose cavity.

Many people are fans of this round’s caliber for handloading, and they won’t be let down by Federal’s hearty factory fresh brass casing. A non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant add up to make a round that’s better for a pistol’s health, a nice perk for your next 1,000 rounds to have!

I have shot this out of my Airweight, and out of my 3" 686+. It is, in my opinion, too much for the Airweight, as the felt recoil slows me down noticeably. I am going for a lighter +P round due to the snap and jump with this load. Out of my 686, however, this is an expanding, through-and-through heavy hitter that is extremely fast, accurate, and easy to control. Definitely one of my first choices for self-defense. There are more powerful loads. There are loads that penetrate less. These shoot dirty (require the brass brush, for sure), too. But, overall? These are inexpensive, heavy-hitting show-stoppers with low flash and great downrange effect. Highly recommended.
