Looking for 5.56x45 M855 ammunition? Don’t let the appearance of this ammo by Lahab of the UAE lead you astray. It is M855 (aka SS109) ammunition. Its 62 grain full metal jacket projectiles contain lead cores with solid steel penetrator tips. The bullets’ tips just aren’t painted green!

M855 ammunition serves an obvious advantage in combat: its bullets’ hardened frontal sections excel at penetrating sheet metal, aka the material vehicles are made of. Its slightly heavier bullet also makes M855 round satisfying for target shooting, as its greater momentum translates to reduced interference from crosswinds.
