Hornady Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details

We love it when you look at our Hornady Frontier 223 Rem ammo. It’s just further proof that AmmoToGo.com customers have that rarest of attributes: good taste.

This cartridge is loaded with the habitual bullseye poker’s best pal – nothing less than a 55 grain full metal jacket, which Hornady made out of lead and copper alloy and no other metals – especially not steel, hence its inability to attract magnets.

Hornady decided it’d be a good idea if this round serves 3,240 fps muzzle velocity out of a 24” test barrel. They were right, because that gives this ammo more or less identical ballistics to the 5.56 M193 you may already know and cherish.

This ammo’s brass cases couldn’t be any newer. They’ve never before sparkled in the light of day, even. But they aren’t uniform in coloration, which is due to their manufacturer declining to polish them after heat treating them for added durability.

The manufacturer (i.e. Lake City Army Ammunition Plant) also loaded this ammo with noncorrosive primers, because it would be totally lame of them if they did otherwise. Can you imagine? New corrosive ammo in the 21st century? That’d be silly.
