600rds – 5.56x45 Winchester 62gr. FMJ M855 Ammo

Winchester Ammunition 62 Grain Penetrator Ammo Details

Looking for M855 ammunition for your AR-15 or other 5.56x45 rifle? We have M855 ammunition for your AR-15 or other 5.56x45 rifle! And it’s even loaded for Winchester by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the U.S. Armed Forces’ chief small arms ammo supplier!

This cartridge’s 62 grain FMJ isn’t painted green because green is a pretty color. Green shows that it’s an M855 “penetrator” bullet, which has a steel-tipped lead core. Its penetrator tip fortifies the M855 bullet so it can bore through barriers as substantial as sheet metal – but it also means this bullet will attract a magnet!

The M855 bullet is a little heavier than usual at 62 grains. This promotes better accuracy at long range as well as deeper penetration through soft tissue. A 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel should give the heavier bullet optimal in-flight stability, though you can make do with a 1:7 twist instead.

Lake City doesn’t polish their cases, so you can still see where this ammo’s brass was annealed for added suppleness and reliability. This is new production ammo, not surplus, so it’s loaded with non-corrosive Boxer primers!
