540rds – 5.56x45 Old Army 55gr. FMJ M193 Ammo
Old Army Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details
Old Army is a veteran-owned business in Washington that sells coffee, knives, liquor and ammunition: the four things every American needs (but not all at once). Old Army didn’t manufacture this 5.56x45 ammo. It’s new production – not military surplus – and it was recently minted in Macedonia by ATS Ammunition. The M193 spec 5.56 cartridge is loaded with a 55 grain full metal jacket, as well as the powder that bullet needs in order to erupt from the barrel at a velocity of 3,240 fps. The bullet’s weight, type and muzzle velocity all make it optimal for target shooting over all practical distances.
Plenty of foreign ammo manufacturers load bimetal jacketed FMJs. ATS isn’t one of them, which is why you won’t find any steel inside their M193 bullets. In addition to being nonmagnetic, this ammo is also noncorrosive: Boxer-primed, with virgin brass cases that enable a normal amount of carbon fouling to enter the action.
