The worst way to get lead inside your body? It’s called “being shot.” Not recommended. But don’t lose sight of yet another way a firearm can put lead inside of you, especially if you train where there’s poor ventilation.

A normal 9mm range load burns lead the instant its primer ignites. Its FMJ bullet then proceeds to release lead gas the entire time it spends inside the barrel.

This Remington Range Clean 9mm ammo doesn’t do those things. Its Boxer primer’s explosive compound contains zero lead. And while its flat nose enclosed base projectile does have a lead core, its aforementioned enclosed base prohibits flaming-hot propellant gasses from touching it. Any lead that does boil will remain contained within the copper jacket, where it can’t release gas into your breathing space.

The FNEB’s lead core is exposed at the tip. It cannot produce lead gas there. It also can’t initiate terminal expansion, which is why the FNEB is not to be mistaken for the kind of soft point you’d want for defense or for hunting.
