This is not +P ammo. It is +P+ ammo, which means it is not loaded according to SAAMI specifications. Firing this ammo in a firearm that isn’t designed for its powerful chamber pressure could result in firearm damage and/or physical injury.Looking for a 9mm solution to defense against aggressive wildlife? Then Grizzly Cartridge Company has your answer! This cartridge’s 147 grain projectile achieves a wicked high muzzle velocity of 1,175 fps, which is even faster than a standard 115 grain target load. That’s why its close-range striking energy exceeds 425 ft lbs – still not much compared to a big bore revolver cartridge, but adequate to neutralize a porcine or ursine (black, not brown) threat with correct shot placement.
This round’s full metal jacket flat point projectile isn’t designed for terminal expansion. It focuses on deep penetration instead, and uses its broad nose profile to gouge a more injurious wound channel than a round nose bullet is meant to. Take care that the FMJ FP is pretty much guaranteed to pass clean through a human, and is accordingly not optimal for conventional defensive applications.
