50rds – 338 Lapua Magnum Vairog 250gr. HPBT MatchKing Ammo

Vairog 250 Grain Hollow-Point Boat Tail (HP-BT) Ammo Details

Sierra didn’t beat around the bush when they named the MatchKing the “MatchKing.” Every single feature of the widely acclaimed hollow point boat tail competition bullet is there to enhance its accuracy.

If your plans involve a little recreational sniping with a 338 Lapua Magnum rifle, this ammo is where it’s at. Equipped with a 250 grain MatchKing and loaded to a brisk muzzle velocity of 2,650 fps, it boasts a 0.600 G1 ballistic coefficient right out of the gate. If you’re shooting to 500 yards, the flat-flying bullet will only need to climb about 20” throughout its trajectory. If you’re joining (or already a member of) the 1,000 yard club that elevation will increase to about 118”, but that’s still pretty flat in light of the staggering distance you’re covering!

The MatchKing can do all of this thanks to its narrow meplat and sleek boat tail, both of which generate impressively little in-flight drag. This is also a highly rotationally stable bullet, with a virtually perfectly concentric jacket and form-fitted lead core. The MatchKing isn’t recommended for hunting applications, but with good aim so heavy a non-expanding bullet becomes pretty deadly in its own right.

Vairog mints their own match grade brass. They load their cases with Sierra’s best as well as premium primers and propellant in the great state of Tennessee.
