Barnaul 115 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details
Russian ammo means two things: steel cases and magnetic bullets! But if you’re looking to trim a little of the fat off of your range ammo budget, then we think you’ll be happy with Barnaul’s 9mm loads! This ammo’s steel cases mean you’re paying for significantly less copper than you would have if you’d ordered brass-cased ammo. Barnaul coats these rounds’ steel cases in lacquer to protect them against corrosion and help them feed a little smoother in a semi-auto. But steel cases are not suitable for handloading, nor do they prevent as much fouling of the action as brass ones.
This round’s 115 grain FMJ bullet has what is known as a “bimetal” jacket. It does have a very thin layer of copper on its exterior to reduce barrel fouling, but it’s predominantly made out of soft steel. A bimetal jacket won’t harm a pistol’s barrel, although you can count on it to attract a magnet.
This ammo has Berdan primers. They are completely non-corrosive and are compatible with any 9mm firearm.
