If we told you that a cartridge has a 0.224” diameter 62 grain bullet, then you’d probably assume it’s just a 5.56x45mm M855 and continue about your day. But wait just a minute there, friend. This isn’t 5.56 at all! It’s 5.7x28mm, and its massive bullet makes it subsonic.This round’s projectile is just too heavy to break the sound barrier while it rockets down the barrel. Its 1,050 fps muzzle velocity means the bullet’s trajectory will exhibit more drop, but that’s the price you pay for the softest report you’re ever going to hear out of your 5.7x28mm pistol. Screw a suppressor to your muzzle and you’ll really be cruising down quiet street!
Fiocchi’s full metal jacket projectile features a solid lead core and copper-alloy jacket – both metals that cannot attract a magnet. (The FMJ’s inability to expand and weaker striking energy both make it a suboptimal option for personal protection, but we won’t tell you your business when it comes to self-defense.)
