500rds – 5.56x45 Black Hills 62gr. TSX Ammo

500rds – 5.56x45 Black Hills 62gr. TSX Ammo Details

This 5.56x45 cartridge features one of Barnes’ greatest contributions to the hunting world: the 62 grain TSX. It is a bullet composed entirely of copper, which means it doesn’t emit vaporized lead during ignition, can’t deposit lead residue in a rifle’s bore, won’t toxify any meat it winds up in, and is incapable of eventually contaminating groundwater. The relatively long TSX features grooves in its shank to reduce how much contact it makes with the barrel, reducing bearing surface and ultimately improving accuracy.

The all-copper TSX keeps impressing after it enters its target. Exceptionally tough copper doesn’t fragment as easily as lead, and as the result retains the weight and momentum it needs to create a deep wound channel. As the TSX penetrates, its nose cavity enables it to peel apart to produce four sharp cutting petals. That’s bad news for a buck or hog!

This round is made by Black Hills Ammunition of Rapid City, South Dakota. They’re a long-standing supplier to the U.S. Armed Forces, and use only exemplary components and loading practices no matter who their ammo’s going to. This round’s brass shell casing is from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, and has been heat-treated to ensure it seals the chamber correctly during ignition. Black Hills’ own non-corrosive primer and proprietary propellant blend ensure a reliable, consistent muzzle velocity.
