500rds – 308 Win Speer Gold Dot 150gr. SP Ammo Details

If the Ammo To Go team were inclined to use a 308 Win rifle for self-defense, then we’d choose the same ammo the professionals would use. But that’s not to say you can only utilize Speer Gold Dot duty rifle ammunition for home protection. Any whitetail in the woods is game for this fine ammo, too!

The Gold Dot soft point is a remarkable bullet. The 150 grain soft point’s pressure-formed lead core and copper jacket were electrochemically fused together. The jacket is highly concentric as the result, which is key to achieving the gyroscopic stability that secures superior accuracy. It also equips the bullet to penetrate extra deeply as its components avoid prying apart. That’s why this round’s SP so capably defeats barriers like vehicle doors and glass before it can sink deeply into its target.

This round’s 2,820 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 24” test barrel, but its low-flash propellant optimizes its performance in rifles with barrels as short as 10”. The Gold Dot SP retains 100% of its weight after passing through heavy clothing and wall board, and it even remains almost one-third intact after piercing a sheet of safety glass.

Gold Dot series ammo is especially good for AR-platform rifles thanks to its nickel-plated brass cases. They create less metal-on-metal friction than bare brass, which helps a semi-automatic to function more reliable, and they’re also more resistant to corrosion.
