Cartridges from the Military Classic line are assembled using non-reloadable steel casings fitted with non-corrosive Berdan primers; this proven selection of components is intended to pass cost savings on to the shooter. Each casing houses a 168 grain soft point projectile with a bi-metal jacket. 168 grains is common to the caliber and carries a balance between low vertical shift in-flight alongside impressive terminal ballistics at long range. The soft point projectile has an exposed lead tip which has been tapered and swaged to a drag-resistant curve for enhanced precision.
Upon impact, the round is intended to flatten out up front while initiating expansion of the entire bullet in a controlled, relatively slow fashion. This design allows the round to penetrate past the thick hide of a big game animal before depositing its energy into the more important vital organs in order to yield a quick, humane drop. WPA is headquartered in the United States but sources most of its ammunition from the Tula plant in Russia.
