It’s made in Russia by Barnaul, and it’s made with lots of real steel!Whenever a cartridge utilizes steel components instead of ones that traditionally contain copper, you’re going to see it reflected in its price tag. This round’s 55 grain full metal jacket has a conventional lead core, but it has a bi-metal jacket instead of a gilding metal one. With the exception of its thin copper-washed exterior, a bi-metal jacket is made of pure steel. Why is that important? Because many ranges ban bullets that can attract a magnet! That’s just to say that you may not want this ammo if your favorite range won’t let you fire it there.
This ammo’s cases are made of steel instead of brass. Now, steel cases aren’t as elastic as brass ones, which means two things: they’re not reloadable, and they let more fouling enter a rifle’s action. But if you don’t handload and don’t mind spending a little extra time cleaning your gear, those aren’t huge shortcomings.
