These MatchKing projectiles from Sierra (SMK) weigh in at 190 grains and can be handloaded into a number of high pressure, .30 caliber cartridges for a great ballistic coefficient that excels in the long range arena! Each bullet has a precise measure of .308 inches in diameter which makes it great for crafting the powerful .300 Win Mag and .300 RUM. SMKs are assembled by taking high quality copper jackets of extreme uniformity and filling them with lead wire through their open tip; this results in a core of consistent quality and proper weight that doesn't deviate by more than 0.3 grains. The overall shape of the bullet is classified as a hollow-point boat-tail (HPBT) due to its open meplat and tapered rear which resists drag in flight.While SMKs are already known for mind-blowing accuracy, these particular HPBT bullets come coated with moly (molybdenum-disulfide) which acts a dry lubricant for extra hot loads. As rounds are repeatedly sent downrange, the moly coating reduces barrel friction and leaves behind far less copper fouling than conventional rounds. This helps to lessen the impact shift between clean and fouled bore shots for longer-lasting accuracy. Other benefits of the coating include easier cleaning and enhanced barrel life which reduces the cost of periodic replacement. Buying in bulk with this 500 count box allows a reloader to build a comprehensive load table while avoiding the time and mess of coating at home.
Sierra does not recommend these bullets for hunting use as they are not designed for expansion. SMKs have been documented to cause excessively irresponsible damage to game when they do fragment.
