Squirrels. Groundhogs. Prairie dogs. What do all of these animals share in common? Two things: They are all jerks, and they all make perfect targets for this 223 Rem ammunition by Winchester. This is the American-made solution to a varmint and predator hunter’s needs!

This AR-compatible cartridge has a 45 grain bullet. Its lighter weight translates to an extremely fast 3,600 fps muzzle velocity, and it’s still going to build up enough pressure in the chamber behind it to cycle a semi-automatic. You wouldn’t want so light a bullet for long-distance shooting, seeing as how easily a crosswind could knock it off course, but when you just want a flat trajectory for picking off critters at close-to-medium range a 45gr bullet is awesome.

Many self-defense pistol cartridges are loaded with jacketed hollow points. This round’s JHP works on the same principle: When it sinks into soft tissue, its nose cavity forces fast terminal expansion that will provide a quick, humane kill. (We would not recommend this round’s bullet for self-defense or deer hunting, as its wound channel depth is relatively shallow.)
