This ammunition has come all the way from England to do two things: kill varmints, and not make very much noise. It’s Eley’s Subsonic 22 LR!This round’s bullet weighs 38 grains, and thanks to its 1,040 fps muzzle velocity its recoil is practically unnoticeable. A subsonic muzzle velocity out of so small a cartridge issues hardly any report at all. You’ll still hear it, of course, but you won’t set people’s teeth on edge with loud, cracking reports. Perfect for hunting squirrels where you don’t wish to offend anyone, and even better in conjunction with a suppressor!
This round’s bullet features what Eley calls a “hollowed nose profile.” It’s a hollow point, in other words, a bullet designed to expand outward as it tunnels through soft flesh. That makes the bullet even deadlier to varmints than its weight and velocity alone could count for, putting pests down for the count permanently. Eley has also treated this bullet with paraffin wax to reduce friction for smoother feeding in a semi-auto pistol or rifle, and the wax continues working splendidly in hot or cold weather.
Eley’s own brass assures even smoother functionality, as does their propriety rimfire priming mixture and clean burning propellant. You’ll find this ammo as good for cutting down varmints as you will target shooting and plinking, making the case for ordering 3,000 of them even stronger still!
