Underwood loaded this ammo for a highly specific application: defense against dangerous game with a 9mm Makarov (9x18mm) handgun. It’s not peppy enough to reliably deter a grizzly bear, but it can easily neutralize a smaller ursine menace!

This round’s bullet is a hard cast: primarily made of lead, but also thoroughly alloyed with other metals that make it much more rigid than lead. The hard cast bullet doesn’t undergo significant deformation as it plunges into its target, which enables it to tunnel all the way to an “insta-kill” vital organ. The hard cast bullet additionally features a flat nose profile (which inflicts greater damage to flesh than a round nose alternative), as well as a Hi-Tek polymer coating which minimizes fouling and nearly does away with lead aerosolization altogether.
