This round is loaded with something almost as good as free: the 170 grain 7mm Terminal Ascent. It’s 1.621 inches of lead and bonded copper, and it’s designed to kick up as little drag as possible as it races downrange. Sleek side profile? Slipstream polymer tip? AccuChannel groove technology, which prevents the thick copper shank from pressing too hard against the bore? They’re all forces behind this round’s abnormally high 0.646 G1 ballistic coefficient. In addition to increasing wind drift immunity and flattening trajectory, the Slipstream tip aids the Terminal Ascent by enabling it to deliver terminal expansion way, way downrange. By Federal’s estimation, the Terminal Ascent dishes out expansion at impact velocities up to 200 fps slower than average.
