20rds – 7.62x39 Brown Bear 123gr. HP Ammo Details
When Barnaul isn’t busy loading ammunition for the Russian military, they’re hard at work capturing a piece of that sweet, sweet commercial market. Sometimes they even give their ammo a neat brand name, as is the case with this Brown Bear 7.62x39!This cartridge is loaded with a 123 grain hollow point bullet, which will undergo positive expansion as it pierces flesh. The projectile’s jacket only appears to be made out of copper. Just beneath that copper-washed exterior sits steel, which is why this ammo will attract a magnet.
Know what else are made of steel? This ammo’s cases, which are nonreloadable, and which wear thin layers of friction-reducing, anti-tarnishing brown (hence the brand name) lacquer. Barnaul does load Berdan primers (strike two against any argument in favor of this ammo’s reloadability), but they are every bit as noncorrosive as an American company’s modern Boxer primers.
