Igman Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details

Igman has garnered quite the reputation for itself since first opening its doors in 1950. Headquartered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the company’s products are currently exported to five continents. They primarily specialize in military grade ball ammo, such as the new production 5.56x45 you see right here.

This round doesn’t do anything fancy, but you don’t want fancy when you’re just trying to enjoy yourself a little target practice. True to its M193 specification, it is loaded with a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. The most remarkable thing about the bullet is its nonmagnetic design, which includes a gilding metal jacket, lead alloy core, and nothing more. Its little cannelure keeps the bullet from losing its ideal seating depth while recoil bucks the cartridge around in the magazine.

This ammo’s Boxer primers are sealed and noncorrosive, and its brass cases are fresh as monkey’s breath. You’ll notice that they’re a little darker around their mouths, necks and shoulders, but that’s not because they were previously fired and reloaded. Igman just decided not to enhance their ammo’s cosmetics by giving its cases a polish after they were annealed (i.e. heat-treated).
