ATTENTION! This ammo will not work in a semi-automatic 45 ACP firearm. It is exclusively intended for 45 ACP revolvers, such as the M1917 or S&W 625.Very few of us will be blessed to own a 45 ACP revolver. If you’re one of the lucky few, then you could fire regular old 45 ACP ammo loaded on moon clips – or you can embrace the rim, and avoid having to fumble around with clips altogether!
This cartridge is intended for hunting, as well as defense against dangerous game (with the understanding that the .45 is probably not going to deter a grizzly all that much). It is loaded with a 255 grain hardcast semi-wadcutter. The hardcast bullet’s abnormal rigidity enables it to focus all of its energy on penetrating as deeply as possible. Its flat nose and angular shoulder both help the SWC inflict a damaging wound channel (albeit one that isn’t significantly wider than the bullet’s original diameter). Perfect if the threat is so large that an expanding bullet would anchor itself before reaching a vital organ!
Doubletap loads this ammo with virgin brass cases. The Utah company recorded its 900 fps muzzle velocity with a 6” test barrel.
