Marginally comfortable to shoot out of a new Marlin lever action; first time out, gave me a 4moa group at 100yd. Haven't tried it again in the Marlin yet, and haven't tried it in the Sharps LR Express; but with the 405gr at 1880fps, the Sharps was quite comfortable, so this should be as well.

`This Winchester round sighted in at 50 yards shoots low a little over an inch at 100 yards. Recoil was more than Remington 405 grain round. However,Remington round shot a little over 4 low inches at a 100 yards when sighted in at 50 yards. I have not compared it to the Federal rounds. It is my understanding that lighter grain bullets produce greater recoil in the 45 70 caliber with the exception of rounds produced for Cowboy Shooting events. With that said, if you can handle higher recoil Winchester may be just what your looking for. My Henry 45 70 likes both.
