This cartridge’s 130 grain projectile is capable of clearing a 4” vented barrel at a rate of 900 fps, which gives it sufficient momentum to strike a 25-yard target with over 220 ft lbs of kinetic energy. That still meets the minimum threshold which many experts advise is suitable for self-defense. The Hydra-Shok bullet combines a robust center post, deeply notched jacket, and alloyed lead core that all share the same mission: producing an effectively deep wound channel with every clean hit.

This Minnesota-made ammunition is loaded with extremely reliable primers and Federal’s highest-quality brass cases. The cases are nickel-plated, which at once enhances their resistance to corrosion and ability to feed and extract quickly.
