This cartridge is loaded with a gargantuan 250 grain projectile: the “Subsonic — eXpanding” (Sub-X), which its Nebraskan manufacturer specifically designed for low-velocity hunting. Full terminal expansion might have posed a challenge to a conventional JHP, but not to the Sub-X thanks to its symmetrically grooved jacket and Flex Tip. Once impact compresses the nose cavity’s soft polymer insert, it forces the Sub-X to open up wide and wreak maximum trauma. The Sub-X is also equipped with Hornady’s famous InterLock ring, which keeps the jacket mechanically bound to the core during and after impact!

Hunting at night? No problemo. This ammo’s special low-flash propellant will make sure you aren’t seeing stars after you let loose your first shot. Make sure you don’t lose this ammo’s cases in the dark, though, because they’re the kind of quality brass you’d want for a handloading project!
