This cartridge isn’t loaded with just any old bullet. That right there is the Hollow Point Match: 175 grains of rotationally stable swaged lead, nigh perfectly concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, and optimized boat tail. The bullet gains a 2,075 fps muzzle velocity out of a 16” barrel, plus the 0.385 G1 BC requisite to keep it supersonic until it has flown well beyond 500 yards. ‘Tis a beautiful thing.

I know what some of you are thinking. “Ah! A hollow point! This must be good hunting ammo, right?” Wrong. Now, don’t get me wrong. If one of these .338 cal sidecars slaps into a varmint’s flank, it’ll wreck the little chittering thing fo’ sho’. But since the HP Match isn’t designed for terminal expansion, you’d really do well to avoid hunting deer with it.
