Hornady outfits this BLACK (gotta spell it in all caps) series cartridge with a MonoFlex. It is indeed accurate, as it combines pressure-relieving grooves that optimize contact with the bore, the same secant ogive profile featured in Hornady’s Extremely Low Drag series projectiles, and a sharp polymer tip that further streamlines its profile. The 170gr MonoFlex achieves 0.314 G1 BC upon emergence from a 16” barrel; ~54% velocity retention, ~29% energy conservation at 500 yards!

The MonoFlex’s tip is no ordinary polymer. It is a Flex Tip, which is suppler than normal, and therefore able to smoosh down into the nose cavity to help it expand wider. Factor in ductile copper’s 95% or higher weight retention, and you’ve got all the trappings of a perfect hunting bullet!
