These cartridges are intended to exhibit match-grade accuracy alongside the ability quickly drop huge elk and moose from far off by utilizing Hornady's new Extreme Long Distance - eXpanding (ELD-X) bullet design. The 220 grain ELD-X projectile features an expertly crafted secant ogive, intricately measured boat-tail rear, and heat-resistant polymer meplat (tip) for unrivaled precision.

The polymer tip is made up of a new material which doesn't melt and deviate into a wider group pattern like previous designs. The ELD-X's heat shield tip is not only durable at high speeds, but highly consistent and uniform in shape due to it's method of creation. Upon impact with a game animal, the hollow cavity behind the polymer tip produces massive expansion at a controlled rate for deep penetration and efficient energy transfer into vital organs. The ELD-X's internal interlock ring prevents jacket separation and preserves penetration so that big game is taken humanely and not made to suffer. This is a very well made product in every aspect,especially in the ability to get several re-loads out of the brass. The 220 grain projectile hits very hard, causing virtually instant deformation, and wound tracts. It evenly distributes lethal energy with such efficiency, a follow up shot has never been required. Elk & Moose drop with in seconds of the trigger squeeze, and have always exited for what are likely near instant kills.
