Remington Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details

UMC stands for United Metallic Cartridge Company – a company Remington merged with way back in 1912. The UMC factory is long, long gone, but the name stays alive and well thanks to fine 223 Rem range ammo like this!

This cartridge features a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile and 3,240 fps muzzle velocity. That gives it ballistic performance which is virtually indistinguishable from our military’s own 5.56 M193 ball ammo. The FMJ is entirely steel-free, thus giving you free access to ranges that hate magnetic ammo. Although it is likely to tear itself to fragments upon hitting a soft medium at high velocity, the FMJ isn’t capable of delivering true expansion. If you do use it for hunting, don’t take aim at medium game. But if you save it for the range instead, you won’t be disappointed!

This Arkansas-made ammo’s brass cases were annealed at the factory, so their mouths will correctly contract back to their original diameter following ignition. Remington polished the cases up after heat-treatment for better cosmetics. Noncorrosive Boxer primers make this ammo clean-shooting and reloadable!
